As our clinic service continues in the east of Ukraine, our team spent the last week visiting other locations needing medical assistance. In many parts of Ukraine the situation is deteriorating, and the need for further interventions is immense.
Areas we are focusing on:
Facilities protecting vulnerable groups.
Orphanages in particular are struggling. Many are expanding. We visited one particularly large unit that is home to 200 children that have no access to dental and limited access to medical and mental healthcare. We already have identified three other similar facilities that need assistance.
We are looking at a small but comprehensive healthcare package for these facilities using local and international volunteer medical practitioners.
A mobile medical/dental service in the grey zones.
Areas previously occupied by Russia are largely destroyed, with many still living in extremely difficult circumstances. Most houses are severely damaged, and the areas are mined.
It is surprising how many children still live in these areas, and many elderly who are unable to move out.
