Primary & Emergency
Field Hospital
Home 5 Our Work 5 Iraq

During the war against ISIS in 2017 we partnered with ADRA Iraq to set up the first primary and emergency field hospital in the camps for displaced persons on the outskirts of Mosul, Iraq.  The clinic is open to this day and has treated over 80,000 patients. The war is over, but the needs are immense. The majority of displaced persons remaining in our camps are particularly vulnerable – most are desperately poor, having spent most of their savings escaping the conflict. Having lost their homes and livelihoods, they are vulnerable to exploitation. Many are stranded in the camps due to familial connections with extremist groups.

Many women in our camp were held as slaves to ISIS militia, and bore their children. It is a complex community, still dealing with the results of life under a brutal regime. The critical role of organisations like AdventRelief to provide adequate care in these communities cannot be overemphasised.
