Home 5 Iraq 5 Iraq Update – January 2024

Several significant developments have unfolded in AdventRelief’s ongoing medical response initiatives in Iraq.

Firstly, a government decision has been made to close one of the camps, thus necessitating the redistribution of internally displaced persons (IDPs) between the two remaining camps, which includes the one actively managed by the AdventRelief team. Our camp is slated to remain operational until at least the end of 2024 to ensure continued support for the displaced populations. At the moment, approximately 12,000 individuals are still living in these camps.

In light of the ongoing efforts, AdventRelief is actively seeking volunteers – specifically doctors and nurses – to support the medical services provided to the displaced communities. The recruitment of skilled healthcare professionals is crucial in addressing the diverse healthcare needs within the camps.

Additionally, a new initiative is on the horizon as we plan and work to launch a dental project in the coming months. In anticipation of this expansion, we are actively seeking volunteer dentists to contribute their expertise to this aspect of our healthcare support.
