A video from the ADRA clinic in Kyaka 2 Refugee Settlement in Western Uganda. We set up this unit in 2018 with ADRA Uganda and are currently funding its continued operation in collaboration with ADRA International and Ishaka Adventist Hospital.
Kyaka 2 is a settlement with a massive population of 125 000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo (77% are women and children) – all who fled the ongoing fighting in eastern DRC.
The biggest need right now is funding for:
- A more comprehensive laboratory.
The clinic treats thousands of patients with malaria – pregnant women and children are especially vulnerable. Effective management of severe malaria requires lab services which we are hoping to get funding for. - An inpatient Malaria treatment unit.
We already have an inpatient area with 10 beds that needs to be utilised – funding is needed to cover staffing, medicines and consumables.
A 2 year old child died in the clinic of severe malaria just a few days ago while waiting to see a clinician, illustrating the immense need for these services.

Our thanks to ADRA Slovenia for the footage.
